Russia Allegedly Cyber Attacks US Federal Agencies; Joe Biden Prepares Sanctions

The Federal agencies and some other similar enterprises of the United States of America face a massive cyber-attack. Joe Biden’s administration is reportedly preparing sanctions against Vladimir Putin’s government in Russia.

US Suspects Russia In Latest Cyber-Attacks

As per the latest updates, the US government agencies along with NASA and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have suffered huge cyber attacks. As per the latest updates from Washington Post, the Biden administration suspects that the cybercriminals are most likely of Russian origin.

The reports suggest that the nine federal agencies across the United States of America and someone hundred private companies were attacked during the cyber attack. Both NASA and the FAA were named in the investigations launched by the Senate Intelligence Committee to solve the cyber attack.

The sources tried to reach out to the NASA spokesperson. But they refused to comment on the same as the investigations were already going on. The spokesperson from the FAA also refused to comment on the issue.

So far, the latest updates received the cyber attack allegedly from Russia included the Department of Commerce, Homeland Security, Justice, and State, the National Institutes of Health, Homeland Security and Treasury.

Similar Cyber Attacks Discovered Last Year

This is not the first time when the US Federal agencies have been attacked by foreign parties. Last year as well, a similar cyber attack was discovered after FireEye reported their network being hacked as well. At that time as well, the hack was suspected to be of Russian origin, but they were proved to be wrong.

Reports suggest that the hackers launched their operation from the US itself. Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology revealed. Anne further said that the hackers installed malware in the software sold by a company called SolarWinds. Around 18,000 entities downloaded some suspicious updates. This further led to more damage than expected. At that time, the media reported that the hackers took data from 250 federal agencies.
