The reason given by the court is that it infringes the patents owned by the SQWIN SA which is a switzerland-based mobile payments company.

Switzerland Company Claims Patent Over Technology In Russia 

SQWIN SA has claimed that Samsung Pay is based on their electronic payment system. The company registered a patent for the technology in Russia around eight years back. The list includes 61 models including some of Samsung’s best 2021 phones like the latest Galaxy Z Flip and Fold flagships. Along with some of the budget models the 2017’s Galaxy J5.

Back in July this year, the Moscow Arbitration Court rules in the favour of SQWIN SA for suing Samsung Electronics Russia Company over the protection of exclusive patent rights and banned the operation of the payment system of Samsung Pay.

Samsung Pay Is The Third Most Used Payment System In Russia
