Hyderabad: A delegation of Telangana State Sarpanches Association, whose term will be expiring on July 31, has today called on Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari and urged him that the government allow them to continue as person in-charges, instead of appointing special officers. Led by association founder Bhumanna Yadav a delegation met Srihari at his residence here and submitted a memorandum on their demands.
The Sarpanches in the state of Telangana are in support of the government which has to concede their demand to allow them continue as person in-charges. The delegation also sought the deputy chief minister not to take a step of appointing special officers for local governance in the wake of expiry of their term. On hearing them, Srihari promised to take up the issue to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for taking a decision.
Bhumanna Yadav argued that all 8684 Sarpanches in the state have been implementing all the welfare schemes and development programs for people for the past four years. He also said that the appointment of special officers will lead to problems in the villages. The team also sought the government to allow them to continue as person in-charges as time period of governing bodies of agriculture cooperative society was extended.(NSS)
