Saudi Arabia plans to lift the travel ban and is all set on resuming international flights, effective from March 31st, 2021.

Saudi Arabia will lift a ban on international flights from March 31st, Wednesday, the SPA ( Saudi Press Agency )announced on Friday.

The country will allow its citizens to travel abroad and then return from March 31st, and all air, land, and seaports will be open from the same date, the agency added.

This particular movie, which will come into force on March 31st, 2021, is going to include the following measures:

  1. Citizens will be allowed to travel outside the Kingdom and come back to the Kingdom.
  2. The temporary suspension on international flights will be lifted.
  3. All sea, air, and land borders will reopen.

The implementation of the above-mentioned measures will be done in accordance with the precautions and procedures laid down by the concerned committee amidst all necessary precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID19 in the Kingdom in coordination with the concerned authorities, the statement added.

The news that travel restrictions will be lifted soon was welcomed by Saudi citizens, far and wide.

Many citizens have been waiting for a long time to hear that they will be allowed to travel again, and are thrilled that an announcement has finally been made.

According to a source, the Kingdom is finalizing arrangements for further vaccine shipments for the immunization of people in vulnerable groups.

The source who is an official at the Ministry of Interior added that apparently, the decision was made following a reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases in Saudi, although some countries have been experiencing a “second wave” of the pandemic and the emergence of a new form/new strain of Coronavirus that can spread at a faster rate.

In other news, Saudi Arabia launched its coronavirus vaccination campaign on December 17th after receiving the first shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The vaccine is going to be free for citizens and residents.

Saudi Arabia was the 2ndGulf country, after Bahrain to approve the use of the vaccine, which was developed by US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech.The vaccination will be carried out in three stages, with each stage targeting a specific demographic, as informed by the Ministry of Health.

The King of Saudi Arabia, Salman received his first shot of the COVID19 vaccine on Thursday, which is almost 3 weeks after the Kingdom kicked off a 3 – phage inoculation program and also almost 2 weeks after his son, Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman took his first shot of the vaccine.

Surprisingly, Saudi Arabia has recorded the highest number of cases within a population of 34 million, among the Gulf states – with a whopping number of 3,63,000 infected and more than 6000 deaths.
