Second Wave Over, Alert on Viral Fevers : Health Director

Telangana Health Director Srinivas Rao today stated that the Corona Second wave was over in Telangana State.

He told reports at his Koti office in the city here that the people should not fear for corona cases as the second wave was completely over. There is no need of panic on the corona cases and deaths which fell down drastically and under control he claimed.

He urged the people not to fear as all fevers are not corona related and one should get a check-up with doctors on the same. There are some viral fevers in 13 districts including Hyderabad, Khammam, Kothagudem, and elsewhere, he said. Srinivas Rao said that in 20 districts Telangana Diagnostic Centers are working and providing primary level health services to the local people. We set up 24 platelet extraction machines to treat Dengue fever and special clinics set up for dengue in the big hospitals about 1200 cases were found related to viral fevers and the health officials are attending the patients in all districts he said.

So far 1.65 crore people are covered under vaccination, he said, adding that 56 percent of the first dose and 34 percent of people got the second dose of vaccination. In the city about 90 percent of people got vaccinated, he said.

The government hospitals with more injections, vaccination, equipment, and medicines and doctors could control and there is no second wave now, he maintained. However, the government is alert in all districts to check seasonal diseases like dengue, malaria, and water-borne diseases.

We have alerted the district health officials and other departments to coordinate to prevent cases of viral fevers, the director of health said. Srinivas Rao appealed to the people to get checkups for temperature, drowsy feeling, loose motions, and other ailments to be healthy.
