Security Tightened at Gandhi Hospital Following Assault on Female Doctor

Security at Gandhi Hospital has been significantly strengthened following an assault on a female doctor by an intoxicated patient in the hospital’s casualty wing on Wednesday. The hospital administration has increased security staff and deployed additional police personnel to ensure the safety of medical staff, with round-the-clock security measures now in place.

In a statement, the Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital confirmed that the incident occurred at 3:30 PM on September 11, when an intoxicated patient, exhibiting symptoms of alcohol withdrawal, attempted to assault a junior doctor, who is an intern at the hospital’s casualty wing. The situation was brought under control swiftly, and the attacker was immediately handed over to the police. A First Information Report (FIR) was filed against the culprit.

The Superintendent reassured the public and hospital staff that, following the incident, the hospital has implemented stricter security protocols. “Security has been strengthened by increasing the security staff with police to support duty doctors, and they will be on duty in shifts round-the-clock,” said the official.
