Hyderabad: In the infamous theft case of Sringeri Shankermutt, the Nallakunta crime police on Saturday arrested one Rallabandi Naga Sairam and recovered 250 gram gold coins worth Rs 7.5 lakh from him. The accused was working as Office Assistant in Shankarmutt temple, Nallakunta and residing at Shankarmutt Quarters. He is a native of Azad Road in Madhira of Khammam district.
According to police, the Sringeri Shankermutt had decided to decorate the statue of Sharadamba with a golden sari and solicited gold offerings from the devotees. The donations were kept inside a wooden almirah in the room of the manager of the Mutt. The accused, who was working with the complainant as his assistant, secretly took away the keys of the almirah and committed theft of the gold donations weighing about 25 tolas.
Criminal who burgled friend’s house nabbed
In another theft case, the Nallakunta sleuths on Saturday nabbed a notorious burglar Sanki Ramu and recovered gold ornaments weighing about 90 gram and 192 gram silver articles, all worth Rs 1.8 lakh.
Accused Sanki Ramu, 28, a daily labourer, was residing at Bathukammakunta in Amberpet here. The accused committed theft in his friend Keshavulu’s house in TRT Colony, Vidya Nagar on May 18 when Keshavulu was at construction work site at Khairatabad and his wife went to her parents house for child delivery.
On receipt of a complaint from Keshavulu, the crime team of Nallakunta comprising K. Saidulu, Addl. Inspector and S.I Koteshwar Rao obtained CC camera footages and identified the offender. The City Police Commissioner appreciated the good work of the cops and rewarded the entire team suitably for successfully cracking the case within a week after commission of the offence. (NSS)
