Shashidhar Reddy Demands Center to Take Up Delimitation in Telugu States

Congress party leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy today urged the central government to take up the delimitation of Assembly seats in Telangana and AP states along with the proposed delimitation process in the undivided Jammu and Kashmir state.

Referring to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act-2014, Reddy said the Act provides for the increase in the number of assembly seats in Telangana state from the existing 119 seats to 153 and AP from the existing 175 to 225 Assembly seats.

He said that issue of the increase in the assembly seats would he asked per the article 170 of the Indian constitution And added that the amendment of the constitution was needed to carry out the process.

He said that he had filed a PIL on the delimitation of the seven mandals of old Khammam district in September 2018 and added that the EC had issued a notification to avoid the court case in an illegal manner.
