Six held for carrying marijuana at Autonagar

Hyderabad : On a tip-off, a Special Operations Team from LB Nagar on Monday caught six persons at Autonagar and seized 130 kg marijuana, along with a car, Rs 12,000 and mobile phones from them.

The accused were identified as Banoth Sudhakar, 23; Jarpula Hussain, 23; Dharavath Chirajeevi, 29; Kambampati Nageshwar Rao, 28; Banoth Venkanna, 26 and Banoth Suresh Naidu, 25. However, one Suresh of Vishakhapatman was absconding.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said Sudhakar and Hussain, who are from Suryapet district, were into the illegal trade for the last few months and had contacts with ganja cultivators and sellers in Vizag. The duo, along with their other associates procured the contraband from Vishakpatnam for Rs 2,000 a kg and sold it for Rs 7,000 a kg in Hyderabad and parts of Maharashtra,” Bhagwat said. Recently the gang purchased 130 kg of marijuana from Vizag and transported it to Hyderabad in two cars. To avoid getting caught, they concealed the contraband in packets and hid it below the seats and inside doors, he added. (NSS)
