Supreme Court dismisses petition challenging dissolution of Assembly

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today dismissed the petition filed challenging the abolition of the Telangana state Assembly and suggested the petitioner to approach the High Court on the same.

A person named Komireddy Ramchander from Hyderabad filed a petition in the Supreme Court alleging that the TRS government abolished the Assembly violating the Constitution without completing the five years tenure given by the people. After examining the petition, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition and suggested the petitioner to go to the High Court.

On the occasion, the Supreme Court stated that the petitions on the abolition of Assembly, early elections and voter list correction and all these were diverted to High Court. The Court also stated that it was not correct to approach the Supreme Court on the same issue again. Supreme Court bench comprising Justice AK Sikri dismissed the petition filed by Ramchander. Ramchander urged the Court to take up the petition for trial considering it as an urgent one as the arrangements were going on speedily for early elections.

Reacting on the plea of Ramchander, the Supreme Court said that it was not proper to the petitioner to approach the Supreme Court instead of approaching High Court. The Court also stated that it was up to the wisdom of petitioner whether to file the petition in the High Court or not. (NSS)
