Hyderabad: Family members of Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav today offered Bonalu to Ujjaini Mahankali Temple as part of Jathara celebrations in Secunderabad here early hours. As part of the ritual, they offered Bonalu and prayers from outside. The temple pujaris blessed them to mark Bonalu festivities, while no people are allowed to attend the same.
After visiting praying the presiding deity, the minister said that due to Corona pandemic, Mahankali Bonalu festivities being celebrated without people. He also said that Bonalu at All Daewaja in the old city will be conducted next week in the same manner. There will be no public participation in the Bonalu festivities due to the Corona effect he said. For first time the people are asked to stay away from Bonalu festivities at the temple he expressed concern.
He extended thanks to people for cooperation to conduct Bonalu without their presence. The minister said that he never expected Corona like situation in his lifetime. He said that as the Corona cases spreading across the world and people in the GHMC area facing problems.
Yadav said that Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao has accorded state festival status to Bonalu and we are compelled to conduct it on a low key affair. We have to conduct Mahankali Bonalu without public participation the minister said. Officials were instructed to conduct Bonalu in the temple premises itself, he added.
