Talasani, Indrakaran plant saplings on Minister Road

Hyderabad: Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Housing Minister A Indrakaran Reddy today planted saplings on the Minister Road near Ranigunj in Secunderabad. The flagship Haritha Haram program was for increasing greenery to 33 percent from the existing 26 percent, they said and asked people to join the green drive revolution in the State.

Students also participated in the program and planted as many as 2,000 saplings near Rani Gunj. The ministers said the State government was conducting the green drive in a prestigious manner for a better environment. They also asked the officials to make arrangements for protecting the saplings planted by involving local people. They suggested coordinated efforts by other departments for the successful conduct of the Haritha Haram in the State.

The aim of the green drive program was to expand greenery in the State to fight pollution and increase rainfall for better agricultural production, they said. The State has about 26 percent greenery and efforts are on to increase to a full extent up to 33 percent. The ministers also vouched for speedy expansion of the greenery to fight industrial pollutants and build a green Telangana.

The State government was taking up the green drive in phases and taking necessary steps as per the directive of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, they claimed. They appealed to people to participate in the flagship green drive and keep their environs clean for the next generations.
