Taliban Reportedly Targets Former Security Group Funded By US Intelligence Agency

In the latest update, the Taliban had intensified the searches for former members of the Khost Protection Force, a special forces unit that was founded and supported by the US Central Intelligence Agency.

KPF – Taliban’s First Target

As per a report submitted by the Human Rights Watch, the KPF are the first target of the Taliban. However, Taliban has denied the allegations, but the nature of the killings indicated that the local Taliban commanders were ordered to execute the KPF members.

Report further said that Taliban’s sara kheta (‘red unit”) elite special forces are highly trained commandos organized on a provincial basis and have also reportedly been told to search for former security members during the night raids.

It is said that in some provinces, Taliban commanders have a list of the names written whose acts are deemed as “unforgivable” and would be targeted.

Taliban’s Pattern Of Killing Spread Terror Amongst Netizens

Reports suggest that the pattern of the killings have sown terror across the netizens of Afghanistan as people associated with the former government don’t feel safe and secure in the country.

After the Ghani government collapsed many of the documents related to the security forces and those who cooperated with them were left behind. And when the Taliban forces entered the offices of the former intelligence agency, they obtained data on the employees.

It is widely believed that many of the people who were earlier killed was because of their role in the previous governments. Other targets included the NDS members along with that in charge of the detention facilities and special strike forces including the Zero units.

On August 13, the day Taliban forces took control of Kandahar, they captured and killed three NDS 03 unit officers, according to former colleagues who saw the bodies.
