Tamil Nadu To Reopen Schools Soon; Safety Protocols To Be Released This Week

As Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K Stalin and School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh recently announced that the schools for classes 9 to 12 will be reopening from September 1. The schools across the state have started to gear up to put all the safety protocols in place.

Only 50 Percent Of The Students To Be Present In The Campus 

As per the latest reports, a guideline of the schedule has also been prepared with the probability of shift classes to be implemented in all schools. The Education Department officials informed the media that a schedule for the reopening of the schools will be put in place by the end of this week. The guidelines would ensure safety norms and Covid 19 protocols.

So far the Standard Operating procedure released by the Directorate of Public Health has informed that only 50 percent of the students will be allowed at the campus. Further instructions from the Directorate of School Education are benign awaited.

However, reports suggest that schools with smaller classrooms are likely to face problems as they would need enough faculty to teach the students in the shift systems. At the same time, the parents are also worried about the pandemic and if the schools reopening would lead to an increase in the Covid 19 cases.

Meanwhile, both the parents and the teachers have agreed that the classes must be opened and without offline classes, the students are lagging behind.

Demands Rise For Separate Rules For Urban And Rural Schools 

The principal of Sarvodaya Public School, Dr Manikantan said that they are planning to implement a shift system and hopes that the Directorate of School Education will allow the shift system. He said that they are planning to have students of classes 10 and 12 be in school during the morning time. And classes for students in 9 and 11 grades to be conducted in the afternoon.

S. Arumainathan, President of the Tamil Nadu Students Parents Welfare Association spoke to the media. He said that the school education department must have different rules for rural and urban schools because of their infrastructure and transport facilities.
