Telangana Cong leader Nandi Yellaiah dies due to Corona

Hyderabad: Senior Telangana Congress leader and former MP Nandi Yellaiah (85) has died due to Corona Virus. He breathed his last this morning while undergoing treatment at Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences( NIMS) in Hyderabad. He was hospitalized on July 29 with an illness. He was found positive in the Corona test.

The octogenarian leader has represented Nagar Kurnool constituency of Telangana state in the Lok Sabha. He was a six-term member of Lok Sabha and also represented Rajya Sabha until 2014. Yellaiah was born in Tajir Nagar, Bholakpur, Musheerabad, in Secunderabad to Nandi Nagaiah. He was a trade union leader and the social worker turned political. He has worked with several Congress leaders.

President Telangana Congress Committee and Member of Parliament Captain Uttam Kumar Reddy, AICC in-charge for Telangana RC Kuntia, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka, former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, AICC secretary Sampath Kumar and former minister DK Samarasinghe Reddy and other party leaders expressed their deep grief over the untimely death of senior Congress leader.

They said in the condolence message that “ Congress party adhered to his ideology, commitment and worked with discipline. His discipline is ideal for today’s generation. Nandi Yellaiah was one of the Ideal leaders. His death is a huge loss to the Congress party and the state of Telangana. We pray to God to grant peace to the soul of Nandi   Yellaiah”. The Congress leaders have expressed their sympathy to the bereaved family members of Nandi   Yellaiah also.

It may be recalled that several Telangana Congress leaders including former Member of Rajya Sabha V.Hanmanth Rao also tested positive with Corona Virus in recent times however he has recovered after the treatment in a private Hospital of the Hyderabad.

The congress party headquarters in Hyderabad Gandhi Bhawan was also closed due to the increased cases of the Corona in recent times.
