Telangana govt receives praise from Akbaruddin Owaisi for minority welfare

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) floor leader In Telangana Legislative Assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi participating in the debate on the state budget 2023-24, praised the government’s initiatives for the social, economic, and educational development of minorities in Telangana.

He has demanded the release of scholarship arrears, fee reimbursement, and overseas scholarships for the educational development of minorities. He stated that some schemes are still being implemented and that the government should release the budget. Last year, Rs 1,724.67 crore was allocated for minority welfare. He demanded that the fourth quarter budget for 2022-23 be released so that scholarships and other educational programs could be expedited.

He stated that 33122 Shadi Mubarak applications are pending, and that the government should release funds for the scheme relating to poor girls’ marriage assistance. He said that the scholarship scheme will provide Rs 150 crore to 13 lakh students. He stated that the central government has abolished the pre-matric scholarship for minority students. He suggested that the state government establish pre-matric scholarships for minority students.

He stated that there are fee reimbursement arrears of Rs 67.66 crore. Under overseas scholarships, Rs 36 crore has been released, and a total of Rs 152 crore is required for all approved applications for 2020-22. He mentioned that many students who have completed their education in other countries are awaiting the release of funds.

He demanded that construction on the 10 acres of land allotted for the Islamic Centre begin immediately.

Akbaruddin asked Chief Minister KCR to visit the old city and review the construction and minority development activities.

He pointed out that repair works of Makkah Masjid are pending and request to regularise the services of the employees of Makkah Mosque and Shahi Masjid.

Mr. Owaisi stated that the Minority Finance Corporation received over 2 lakh applications under the subsidy loan scheme, and the scheme has not been implemented for the last five years. He said that the government should release at least Rs 200 crore so that 30,000 people can receive subsidy loans.

He proposed opening a Waqf Board record room and auditing all documents to protect records. The work on document digitization should also be completed.

He demanded the early start of metro train construction in the old city, the construction of a new Osmania Hospital building, and the development of Charminar Unani Hospital. Akbar Owaisi also demands to release Rs 20 crore sanctioned for Lal Darwaza temple.
