Telangana govt to take up development of 104 link roads in Hyderabad

To improve the city’s infrastructure, the State government has proposed developing 104 link roads at a cost of Rs 2,410 crore under the Missing Links Projects (Phase-III). In the coming days, work on the development of the link roads will be halted.

Among them, 72 roads measuring 95.47 km will be developed within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits at a cost of Rs 1,160 crore, and 32 roads measuring 103.45 km will be developed within its surrounding 10 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) at a cost of Rs 1,250 crore.

The ULBs where these roads will be built are Bandlaguda Jagir, Ghatkesar, Kothur, Dammaiguda, Nagaram, Badangapet, Shamshabad, Ibrahimpatnam, Manikonda, and Jawaharnagar.

The goal of proposing these link roads is to improve mobility, ease traffic, and boost commercial establishment growth, according to a press release from Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited (HRDCL).

Following the instructions of the MA&UD Minister, KT Rama Rao identified 135 link roads totaling 126.20 kilometers in length. Among them, the HRDCL began the development of 37 link roads at a cost of Rs 572.17 crore, completed the development of 21 roads at a cost of Rs 273.61 crore, and is currently working on the remaining 16 roads at a cost of Rs 298.56 crore.

Over 30 link roads in Greater Hyderabad and its outskirts were opened to motorists more than a year ago, and all of them are providing significant relief to commuters by improving mobility, shortening commuter travel distances, improving road safety, and lowering carbon emissions. In five Phase-III packages, the HRDCL has begun construction of another 50 missing links/link roads.

The State Government has decided to build corridors in order to improve Hyderabad’s transportation system. By serving as alternate distributors or parallel routes, these link roads will help alleviate traffic congestion on major corridors.
