Telangana Reports Less Cases On Sunday With Less Test Samples; Recovery Rate Slips

In the latest reports, a lesser number of Covid 19 cases were recorded on Sunday. However, it was because of the lesser number of tests being conducted across Telangana.

Telangana Reports Over 2000 Fresh Cases on Sunday

As per the latest reports, on Sunday Telangana reported 2,251 fresh cases. The new tally has now increased the total number of cases to 3,29,529. The government announced the numbers in a bulletin on Monday.

On Saturday, the state announced an all time high in the daily tally since August 2020. Saturday recorded a total of 3,187 new cases after a testing a size of 1,15,371. As compared to Sunday when only 79,027 samples were tested across the state.

As per the bulletin released at 8 pm on Sunday, six people were reported to have died in the past 24 hours. This further increased the death toll to 1765. The Director of the Public Health and Family Welfare said that the fatality rate is currently at 0.53 percent as compared to the national average of 1.30 percent.

The number of active cases in Telangana has reached 21,864. And 14,431 people are currently under home quarantine.

Reports further suggest that 565 people have recovered from Covid 19 in the past 24 hours which increases the total recoveries in Telangana to 3,05,900. Even though the recovery rate has slipped slightly and stands at 92.82 percent. But it is still above the national average which is 89.9 percent.

Telangana High Court Directs State Government To Increase Covid 19 Tests

The report comes after the Telangana High Court directed the state government last week to increase the number of RT-PCR Tests in the state. The court said that the numbers of active cases amidst the second wave of Covid 19 cases is constantly increasing. And the current speed of Covid testing is not enough.

The Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, Dr G Srinivasa Rao announced on Friday last week that the state has achieved a new milestone. They conducted one lakh tests and gave out one lakh vaccines to the netizens in a single day (Thursday). He further praised the public on being aware about both the detection and the protection from the pandemic.
