Telangana: Revanth Reddy demands action against KCR over Kaleshwaram project

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy called on the Centre to take action against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao rather than making mere statements on the Kaleshwaram project.

In response to Gajendra Singh Shekhawat’s claim that the Kaleshwaram irrigation project was built on incorrect design and has engineering faults, Revanth Reddy asked why the Centre wasn’t taking action.

In response to Shekhawat’s statement, the Congress leader took to Twitter and wrote: Kaleswaram has become an ATM for KCR… True! KCR Kaleswaram was built for commissions… True! Kaleswaram submerged due to a design flaw…True! You don’t take action on KCR’s loot and corruption… This is also an undeniable fact.

In his advice to the Central minister, the Congress leader urged him to stop making statements and take immediate action.

During a public meeting organized by the BJP at Yadadri on Tuesday, Shekhawat said Kaleshwaram was built incorrectly.

The project was built without permission, including environmental clearance, and was used as a cash cow.

The central minister responded to KCR’s demand for national status for Kaleshwaram by saying he wants it to cover up failures and corruption, and to be recognized as a national project.

As a result of faulty engineering and wrong design, three pump houses of the project submerged in recent floods in the Godavari.

Revanth Reddy also said that KCR was busy lobbying in Delhi for contractors’ bills to be cleared instead of assisting flood victims. He said that KCR’s visit to the national capital was aimed at securing these funds, so he could get kickbacks.

According to Revanth in an open letter to Chandrasekhar Rao, the state government is washing its hands of responsibility by sending a preliminary report instead of providing a comprehensive report on the damage and crop loss.
