Telangana suffers from heatwave conditions as mercury reaches 46 degrees

Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in parts of Telangana on Wednesday, with the maximum temperature reaching 46 degrees Celsius.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, Julurpad in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district was the hottest place in the state, with a maximum temperature of 46.4 degrees Celsius.

Maximum temperatures were recorded at 45.4 degrees Celsius at Khanapur P.S. in Khammam, Bayyaram in Mahabubnagar, and Garimellapadu in Bhadradri Kothagudem.

The temperature reached 45.2 degrees Celsius in Mamillagudem (Suryapet) and Nidamanur (Nalgonda).

Some locations in the districts of Jayashankar Bhupalapally and Khammam recorded temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius. The Met Office has forecasted dry conditions in Telangana for the next three days.

According to Dr K. Naga Ratna, head, Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad, the maximum temperature will be 40 degrees or higher at many places.

The highest temperature in Telangana will be above 41 degrees in the north and north east. The maximum temperature in Hyderabad and surrounding districts is expected to be 38-40 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, health officials reported that the number of hospitalizations for sun stroke has increased across the state as a result of the heat wave.

The Health Department has issued an advisory to citizens in light of the heat wave warning issued by the India Meteorological Department Hyderabad (IMD-H) for the state of Telangana.

Director of Public Health Dr G. Srinivasa Rao has asked people to stay hydrated, stay indoors as much as possible, and avoid direct sunlight exposure.

As a precautionary measure, the government has made elaborate arrangements, including the provision of special beds, IV fluids at all the public health facilities and ORS sachets with ANMs/ASHAs/Anganwadi workers to meet any exigencies.
