Thota Agaiah says Revanth Reddy has no right to criticise KTR

BRS district president Thota Agaiah challenged TPCC president Revanth Reddy to a debate on the development of Sircilla and the Padmashali community in Sircilla, saying that Revanth Reddy had no right nor stature to criticize IT Minister KT Rama Rao.

In response to the Congress leader’s remarks about Rama Rao’s participation in the Telangana movement, he stated that Revanth Reddy had betrayed the separate State agitation by his association with the TDP and N Chandrababu Naidu. He was no stranger to criticizing Telangana agitators. He had no moral right to speak about weavers and BCs, he added, because he represented political parties that humiliated weavers calling them drunkard and people who committed suicides for the government’s ex gratia.

He criticized the TPCC president for terming weavers as a mafia and demanded that Revanth Reddy apologise to the community. It was also a shame on part of the Congress to talk about Telangana protagonist Konda Laxman Bapuji, Agaiah said, adding that Revanth Reddy had kept silent when Laxman Bapuji was forcibly sent away from Jaladrushyam by the then TDP government.

In February, leaders of BRS filed police complaints and the ruling party has called for protests against Revanth Reddy over his remark concerning the Chief Minister.

Reddy had said that “even if Maoists blow up the official residence of the chief minister with explosives it would be of little consequence as it was of no use to the people”.

The complaints were filed at Mulugu and Narasmpet police stations. The BRS leaders expressed doubts that there could be a conspiracy behind Revanth Reddy’s remarks.

The complainants alleged that the Congress leader gave a call to Maoists to blow up Pragati Bhavan as a conspiracy to endanger the life of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
