HYDERABAD: The toll plazas in the state today witnessed a huge amount of Cahead of the Sankranti festival. The residents of Andhra Pradesh from the state capital began to leave the state Capital to take part in the festival at their native places.
This has resulted in the crowd at the toll plazas located on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway.
Although most of the vehicles have fast-tags, a traffic jam was seen at the Keesara toll gate on Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway. The vehicle owners and users are urging the authorities concerned to cancel the toll fee for one week during festival times.
While the Hyderabad-Vijayawada stretches witness the passage of three thousand to four thousand vehicles on normal days, the passage of vehicles would go up to 18,000 vehicles to 20,000 vehicles during Sankranthi time. The authorities have also initiated steps to regulate the traffic at all toll plazas.
