TRS implementing welfare programs for fulfilling real objectives, not for politics: CM KCR

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said Telangana has set a new standard in residential education by establishing over 1,000 Gurukul schools and colleges that cater to the needs of all sections of society. Despite the Centre’s lack of support, Telangana will soon become the only state to have government medical colleges in all 33 districts.

On Wednesday, after inaugurating the Integrated District Offices Complex in Jagtial, the Chief Minister stated that the TRS government was not implementing welfare programs for the sake of politics, and instead, was focusing on fulfilling the real objectives.

He stated that while some officials suggested increasing Aasara pensions to Rs.430, he increased it to Rs.1,000 after the formation of the state to ensure that the scheme’s true purpose was served and the beneficiaries lived a respectful life without depending on others.

“Many elderly people who are ignored by their children, are now living a dignified life due to the old age pension of Rs.2,000, rice supplied under ration card and benefits from other welfare schemes. There cannot be a better satisfaction in any elected representative’s life,” he said.

Chandrashekhar Rao ruled out limiting Rythu Bandhu financial assistance to farmers with less than five acres, which account for approximately 93.5 percent of total farmers. He stated that due to a lack of irrigation facilities, farmers with 30-40 acres in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh districts of Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Nalgonda, and Medak migrated to Hyderabad, Mumbai, and even Dubai for a living.

“We cannot deny financial support for such farmers who are less than 0.28 percent,” he added.

He stated that the State government achieved excellent results as a result of the combined efforts of all employees, officers, and elected representatives. With around 40,000 overhead tanks, the State government was able to provide drinking water to every household through the Mission Bhagiratha scheme. He stated that Telangana was developing as a result of intellectual brainstorming in all fields and that if everyone continues to work harder, the state would make great strides.
