Hyderabad: The State government has expedited the formulation of Telangana State NRI Policy. On the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, a team of senior officials have left for Kerala State on Tuesday.
The team comprising Government Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and CM’s Principal Secretary S Narsing Rao held meetings on Tuesday with Non-Resident Keralites Affairs department — NORKA Secretary Elangovan, NORKA Roots Organization CEO Harikrishna Namboodri. The team held discussions on the measures to be taken for welfare of the Keralites living in various countries and the policies were being implemented in this regard. The team also studied several policy papers in the matter.
The Chief Minister KCR had decided to support and help the people from Telangana State, who migrated to several countries in search of jobs and were also facing problems and challenges. To help the Telangana people, the KCR wanted to bring a comprehensive NRI policy. He had asked the officials concerned to study various policies and schemes being implemented in other States with regard to the NRIs there. As part of this exercise, the officials’ team is in Kerala now.
