TTDP urges CEO to initiate action against caretaker ministers for violating election code

Hyderabad: Telangana Telugu Desam Party today urged the State Chief Election Officer to take immediate action against the caretaker ministers, ruling party legislators and leaders, who have violated code of conduct after dissolution of the Assembly.

In a letter to the State Chief Election officer today, the TTDP pointed out that the Assembly was dissolved on the recommendations of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao after approval by the cabinet. Chandrashekhar Rao was asked to continue as caretaker Chief Minister and election code of conduct came into force immediately. The TTDP complained that the caretaker ministers and legislators were participating in various official functions and announcing schemes to woo voters in violation of the election code.

The TTDP cited various examples that include announcement of dearness allowance to State government employees, announcement by KCR to build a memorial for former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on the premises of the legislative Council, announced distribution of bathukamma saris to women in October, inauguration of metro train between Ameerpet and LB Nagar, laying foundation for a marriage hall and Ambedkar building at Wanaparthy by caretaker Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, promise to gift Rs 5 lakh to women self-help groups and announcement of Rs 300 crore semi-conductor industry.
