Unauthorised constructions gone up in city and outskirts despite lockdown blues

Despite the lockdown blues the unauthorized constructions in Hyderabad city and outskirt areas remain continue with most of them coming up recently by throwing all the town planning rules into air. What would be a more obvious precedence of blatant violations of town planning then the Rajendranagar area where unauthorised constructions show no sign of decline even during lockdown?

Rajendranagar, that dubbed as circle No.11 under GHMC limits, has earned a moniker of ‘most un-supervised area’ in terms of implementing town planning rules as brazen level of illegal and unauthorized constructions gone haywire and the non-stop saga squarely speaks about endless corruption at the official level.

Deviations, deep excavation to construct cellars, construction of extra slaps, and encroachment over roads, pathways, water bodies and nalas are the common scenes here in Rajendranagar and all this is not just by fluke as people and activists well acquainted with the situation here said, the town planning officials are fully aware with what happening around them.

“In the year 2019, the government has passed an order to all the Municipal Commissioners of ULBs to take immediate action against illegal and unauthorized constructions as per the orders passed by the High Court and furnish the action take report. However, nothing has changed on the ground wherein brazen levels of illegal and unauthorized constructions in Rajendra Nagar remain continue since the last two years while the officials of town planning wing are fully acquainted with the situation at play,” said Syed Shoukat Ali, Community Activist.

Town planning officers and staff, he further said, by and large appeared taking any action by their end or on filing of any complaint from any quarter against illegal constructions as they least comes to office or simply avoids responding to calls relating to such illegal activities. Local ACP town planning doesn’t give a hoot to the blatant level of violations under her nose.

Ironically, while several departments are facing shortage of labourers to carry out pre-monsoon repair and construction works in the area, the illegal construction goes haywire without such shortcoming of labour force despite lockdown.

The ACP Town Planning Wing Rani never responded to calls and text messages on more than one occasion for comment on the issue.
