Unlike districts, dry spell continue to grill citizens in Hyderabad

Despite few minutes of showers today in the city outskirts, more specifically at Shivrampally under Rajendranagar area, no much impact was seen over the dry spell in the city as heat wave remain continue since the last four days that start making the citizens completely unnerve much ahead of the summer season.

As per the official statistics, the GHMC limits that covered most part of the Hyderabad district have witnessed no rainfall during the last four days except few minutes of showers at Shivrampally area. Almost all the 16 areas, where the Automated Weather Stations (AWSs) are located such as Charminar Saidabad, Bandlaguda Bahadurpura, Golkonda, Asifnagar, Nampally, Khairatabad, Shaikpet, Amberpet, Himayatnagar Ameerpet, Secunderabad, Tirumalgiri, Maredpally and Musheerabad no rains have been recorded since the beginning of the month.

The GHMC areas cumulatively received an average rainfall of 752.5 mm as against the normal 591.6 mm during June 1 to October 3 this year with 27 percent deviation. While the Telangana State cumulatively received 1013.9 mm as against the 732.7 mm normal rainfall with 37 percent deviation during the same period.

Meanwhile, other parts of the state keep on witnessing light to moderate rainfall. Light rainfall of 2.5 to 15.5mm has been recorded on Sunday in 12 districts such as Jagtial, Kumram Bheem, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Warangal Urban, Mulugu, Jangaon, Siddipet, Medak, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool and Nalgonda.

Only Nagarkurnool and Siddipet districts received moderate to high rainfall on Sunday. Some of the places in Siddipet and Nagarkurnool districts received 15.6 to 64.4mm of rainfall. However, the Lingal area of Nagarkurnool district has recorded the highest rainfall of 20.2 mm on October 3.
