Uttam alleges irregularities in transfers of teachers, employees

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged of large scale irregularities in the transfer of teachers and government employees.

Addressing the felicitation and retirement function C.H. Manaiah, President of School Teachers Federation, at Narsapur on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy referred to some media reports which exposed irregularities in transfers being done on the basis of web counselling. He alleged that there was no transparency in the transfers and demanded that the government accept the demand of teachers’ union for manual counselling. He said that the previous Congress regimes used to carry out the process of transfers in highly transparent manner.

Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the TRS Government has completely neglected the welfare of employees, especially teachers, ever since it came to power. Appreciating the role played by employees and teachers during statehood movement, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that they did not get any benefit from the formation of Telangana State. However, he said some union leaders, who were closer to the ruling party, extracted huge benefits and got top posts for themselves while ignoring the problems being faced by the employees. He accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao humiliating the teachers on several occasions. He said teachers’ union made several representations with regard to their problems to the government. However, all the problems remained unsolved even four years after Telangana formation. He said that the Cabinet Sub-Committee, which was constituted to look into the teachers’ problems, did not come up with any solution.

The TPCC Chief said that the TRS Government did not fulfil any of major promises that it made with employees. He said that the Health Cards issued by the government were not being accepted by many hospitals. Instead of taking corrective steps, KCR Government has remained inert on the issue.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS Government neither conducted a single DSC nor appointed a teacher during the last four years. Contrary to this, a neighbouring State appointed 10,000 teachers in the same period. He said KCR is neither filling up vacancies nor taking care of existing employees.

The TPCC chief assured that the Congress party, when voted to power in next elections, would restore old pension scheme for employees while scrapping the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). Similarly, he said all demands made by the teachers’ unions would be accepted. He also assured that the Congress party would fight for the cause of employees and teachers both in the Assembly and outside.

Uttam Kumar Reddy praised Manaih for the active role he played in shaping the future of thousands of children. He said that the next Congress Government would use his experience and guidance to understand and resolve the issues concerning teachers.

Former minister and Medak DCC President Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and other leaders were also present. (NSS)
