Uttam Demands CM to State Deadline to Fill Up Govt Job Vacancies

Nalgonda MP Uttam Kumar Reddy today demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao announce the deadline by which the State Government would complete the process to fill 91,142 vacancies.

He also demanded that all verified applicants should be given promised Unemployment Allowance of Rs. 3,016 per month.

“CM KCR had announced on the floor of Telangana Legislative Assembly on March 9, 2022, that his government would fill 80,039 posts in various departments through direct recruitment and regularise the services of the remaining 11,103 contractual posts. Of this, as of Tuesday, notifications have been issued to fill only 33,787 vacancies in different departments. Although the Chief Minister had announced that the notifications to fill these vacancies will be issued immediately, it was not honored. In the last 90 days, notifications have been issued to fill only one-third of identified vacancies,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

He was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of his Raithu Rachabanda  Yatra in his  Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency being held to highlight the Warangal Declaration unveiled by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on May 6. The Yatra entered its 15th day on Tuesday and so far, it covered over 100 villages and one municipality out of 306 villages and three municipalities.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the TRS Govt of deliberately slowing down the recruitment process due to the paucity of funds. The Pay Revision Commission, headed by C.R. Biswal, had identified about 1.92 lakh vacancies. “Instead of filling up all vacancies, CM KCR had promised to fill only 80,039 posts and regularise 11,103 others. But so far, notifications have been issued for only one-third of announced vacancies. Therefore, CM KCR should announce the deadline by which the entire process, including issuing of job notification, exams, results and final recruitment will be completed, “he demanded.

The Congress MP said that the unemployment rate among educated youth was at its peak in Telangana. Giving an example, he said about 3.80 lakh candidates applied for 503 Group-1 posts. On average, there are 756 applications for each post. The applicants include 2.53 lakh graduates; 1.23 lakh postgraduates and 424 PhDs. Similarly, Uttam Kumar Reddy said more than 12.6 lakh candidates have applied for just 17,291 posts of Sub-Inspector, Assistant Sub-Inspector and Constables in Police, Prison, Fire, Transport and Prohibition & Excise Depts. Therefore, there are 73 applicants for each post. “These statistics clearly show the depth of unemployment among educated youth in Telangana. There are no jobs for qualified youth either in the government or private sectors. The huge number of applications have exposed that TRS Govt has failed to address the problem of unemployment in the last eight years,” he said.

Reddy said that the caste-wise break-up of applications showed that unemployment was too high among BCs, SCs, STs and minorities. Of over 12.6 lakh candidates who applied for police jobs, nearly 53% are BCs, 22% are SCs and 19% are STs. “It is highly unfortunate that some TRS leaders are shamelessly highlighting the huge number of applications for various jobs as an achievement. This is a matter of shame and not pride that 73 youth are in queue to get one job. Once the recruitment is done, about 12.40 lakh applicants will remain jobless with literally no assistance from the State Govt, he said.

The Congress MP also demanded that the State Government should pay promised Unemployment Allowance of Rs. 3,016 per month to all the candidates who are applying for various jobs. Since the credentials of all the candidates are already being verified during the process of submitting applications, the State Government should start paying them the Unemployment Allowance until they get a regular job, he demanded.
