Vardhaan Lithium to Set Up India’s First Lithium Refinery

India is set to revolutionize its energy and industrial sectors with the establishment of its first lithium refinery and battery manufacturing facility in Additional Butibori, Nagpur, Maharashtra. Backed by a substantial investment of Rs. 42,532 crore, the project aims to reduce India’s dependence on lithium imports and strengthen its global position in clean energy.

Vardhaan Lithium (I) Pvt. Ltd., led by Chairman Sunil Joshi and Managing Director Vedansh Joshi, will build the 500-acre facility, designed to refine 60,000 tonnes of lithium annually and produce 20 GWh of batteries. The project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, driving self-sufficiency in critical sectors and positioning India as a global leader in lithium-based products.

The facility will cater to the growing demand for electric vehicle batteries and renewable energy storage solutions, vital for India’s energy transition. Vardhaan Lithium has partnered with global technology leaders from the USA and Europe to ensure that products meet world-class standards.
