We are increasing Covid tests in Telangana: DPH tells HC

The Director of the Directorate of Public Health of the state Dr. Srinivasa Rao has told the high court of Telangana that they were increasing the number of Covid 19 virus tests. He told the court that they conducted 29 lakh tests in the last month.

He also said that they conducted tests on 68.56 per cent of people in the second phase of the fever survey. He made these remarks in his counter filed in response to a batch of petitions filed on the issue of the prevention of the Covid virus in the state.

Apart from the director of public health, the officials of GHMC labour department DGP filed separate counters before the HC. The director also told the HC that they had constituted a three-member task force committee of IAS officers to crack the whip against all private hospitals which are violating the orders issued by the state government.

He said that the committee would observe the complaints and take action against the erring hospitals. He said that they had issued 115 show cause notices to 79 private hospitals of the state so far and added that the permission of the ten Hospitals was canceled for the violation of the rules.

Commenting on the black fungus medicines, he said that there was an acute shortage of the medicines of the black fungus and added that they were buying the black fungus medicines. He told the HC that a total of 744 black fungi were reported in the state so far and added that they had set aside 1500 beds for the treatment of the black fungus across the state.

Meanwhile, the DGP of the state M. Mahender Reddy told the HC that they had booked 150 cases against those who tried to sell covid medicines in the black market. In his counter, He also told the HC that they booked 7.49 lakh cases against the violator’s Covid 19 norms between April 1, 2021 to May 30, 2021.

The DGP further said that of the total cases 4.18 lakh were filed against those who did not wear face masks and added that a fine amount of Rs. 35.81 crore was imposed against the violators. He also said that the department had booked 41872 cases against those who did not maintain social distance.
