“When dogs can wear masks, why not goats?” Police after arresting ‘mask-less’ goat

In a world when animals are suffering more than humans, the latter is leaving no stone unturned in just making it worse for them. Amid a rather peculiar yet weird incident, police officials went ahead to arrest a goat that was seen on the streets without a ‘mask.’

The strange case occurred when the Beconganj police of Kanpur city spotted a goat roaming the areas within its patrolling who was seen “not wearing a mask.” They immediately “arrested” the animal and took it in their police jeep to the police station on Sunday.

Learning about the arrest off his goat, its owner hurriedly reached the station to claim the animal and release it.

After making a lot of requests to the police, they ultimately freed the goat, allowing the owner to take it. However, they warned him against letting the animal go off the aisle, walking freely on the road without mask.

However, when this story got viral and social media was filled with people mocking the police for this witless action, the cops changed the story of the arrest completely.

When media reached the police, Circle officer, Anwarganj police station, Saifuddin Beg, in a turn of events, claimed that they had allegedly found a young man without a mask, walking the goat along with him in the Beconganj area. They arrested the goat after the man fled seeing the cops, thinking that the man will eventually come to the police station to claim him if it was his and they could then punish him for being ‘mask-less’ as well.

“When he saw the police, he ran away leaving the goat behind so the policemen brought the goat to the police station. Later, we handed over the goat to its owner,” he said.

However, one of the cops spilt the beans by agreeing to the fact the police had infact arrested the goat as it was spotted without a mask. They believed that animals needed to wear masks as well as they can be spreading the infamous virus amongst humans. He took the example of people who are portraying their pet dogs with masks.

“People are now making their dogs wear a mask so why not a goat?” he asked.

The track got reversed when the police realized how the users on internet were laughing on the incident.

The Kanpur police got to Twitter to explain the matter, “In the case, it was reported that the goat was walking around in lockdown which was brought to the police station, the goat owner came to the police station and according to the rules, the goat was handed over to him. The rest of the charge is untrue and baseless,” the tweet read, which was directed at a journalist.
