‘World’s First Social Drinking Platform’ Created by a Hyderabad Start-up

A Hyderabad-situated start-up has started what it professes to be the world’s first social drinking platform, which will furthermore deliver alcohol to individuals at their doorsteps.

The engineers of Booozie, the web, and application-based platform, guarantee it will advance responsible drinking. It includes an information base of bars/clubs in each city, offers and occasions at different bars/clubs, a thorough list which records the brands and current MRP of brands accessible in each state of India, and free online delivery of alcohol at doorsteps.

Co-Founder and CFO of Booozie, Vivekanand Balijepalli told IANS: Booozie will be a delivery aggregator by picking up liquor from the nearest shop, with an upfront payment to stores without any commission from stores and will provide free delivery.

Booze, the lead brand of Innovent Technologies Private Ltd, is presently wanting to initiate online delivery of alcohol in West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand throughout the following two months under the initial phase.

He stated: In the post-COVID era, there is a huge demand for online delivery of liquor. We welcome the change in policy adopted by various states to permit this. Over the next 6 months, we intend to start operations in 10 states in India and hope to cover at least 20 states over the next 12 months subject to approval from state governments.

The organization has recently submitted proposals to seven states including Telangana and Karnataka and is patiently waiting for the authorization from the state governments.

The start-up said when the pandemic has added to the issue of joblessness, it plans to make more than 1,000 job positions during the following one year.

It was during the COVID-19 prompted lockdown that Vivekanand and two other fellow founders hit the idea of building up this platform.

He told: Liquor shops were closed and there was a lot of demand for liquor. Everyone was craving and trying different options. We started studying the whole liquor industry and decided to work on this idea.

They found that the alcohol business in the nation is vigorously dependent on the government and there is a colossal shortfall in the buyer demand and the current supply in the market. They wanted to assemble something dependent on community connections.

The co-founders additionally understood the need to network the community.

He was reported saying: This platform is dedicated to people who enjoy drinking because there is a lot of stigmas associated with liquor. People on Facebook and other social applications don’t feel free to share their experiences with liquor. This is a closed community of people where they can post and interact and they can learn how to make new cocktails.

He disagreed that the platform will encourage the consumption of alcohol.

He said regarding the matter: In fact, we will be promoting responsible drinking. Moving forward, through our user interaction platform, we will try to solve various social concerns related to the consumption of alcohol such as depression, excessiveness, convenience, etc.

Booze has worked together with HyperVerge Technologies to accommodate age-gating, ID check, face recognition of consumers, consequently restricting under-age consumers to see content or place orders on the application. Also, at the hour of delivery, a check is done to guarantee that nobody abuses the platform.

Co-Founder and CPO of Booozie, Susovan Mazumder said they saw that there is an absence of data for clients to pick the brands inside their spending plan.

Susan continued: Booozie will give the users access to a curated database of brands along with their pricing specific to their state. In the near future, we intend to bring various features such as online drinking games which users and their friends can play on our platform, prepaid bottles at bars/clubs, spending trackers, etc. which we believe will be a hit with the millennial audience.

Booze plans to connect clients to bars/clubs after lifting the limitations.

He included: We have a comprehensive database of bars/clubs in every city, we anticipate low footfall for these outlets in the future due to the changed mindset of people. We propose to provide a platform for these outlets to draw users through coupons, events, offers, etc. Through our catalog rating system, we also plan to help liquor manufacturers and state governments gauge the demand of particular brands that are unavailable in their state.
