Yet Another Dalit Girl Raped and Killed in Barabanki, UP

Barabanki: Even before the dust could settle totally over the Hathras occurrence, yet another Dalit girl has been Raped assaulted, and strangulated in a village in the Barabanki region.

The girl’s body was discovered on Wednesday in a paddy field.

The police had at first registered a murder case against an unidentified individual yet after the post-mortem report confirmed Girl Raped, the charge of rape under IPC segment 376 was included in the FIR.

As indicated by, Ram Sewak Gautam, additional SP: “The FIR, on Wednesday, was registered under section 302 of the IPC. On Thursday, we have added section 376 (rape) of the IPC based on the post-mortem report. We are questioning a few suspects after primary investigation.”

As per the girl’s father, she had gone to the fields in the day to harvest the crop.

He said: “At around 5.30 pm when she did not return home, I got worried and started looking for her. After around 30 minutes later, I went to the field and saw her slippers. A little ahead, I found her lifeless body.”

Based on digital proof and ground data, accused Dinesh Gautam (19) was taken into custody, said Additional SP Ram Sewak Gautam.

The charged, having a place in the hamlet in the same gram sabha as the victim, admitted to perpetrating the crime, the police officer stated. The facts uncovered by him during questioning were being validated.

The casualty was the oldest of four siblings. While her younger sister is around 15, her twin brothers are around seven.

Yet, there is uncertainty over the girl’s age and the police have not included the charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

While the family insisted that she was 17 years of age, police said that in their first complaint, the family had said that the girl was over 18 years.

IG (Ayodhya Range) Sanjeev Gupta, in the interim, said that the age of the casualty would make little difference to the investigation.

The casualty was cremated on Thursday night after the police guaranteed them of arresting the accused at the soonest.

A member of the family told a TV station that she was found naked and her hands and feet were in restraints.

The Barabanki police gave an announcement, saying there was no stress from police on the casualty’s family.
