Hyderabad: For 119 segments going to polls on Dec 7, as many as1821 candidates from various political parties are in fray. For 119 segments 1821 candidates from various political parties are in fray. While the highest number of 42 candidates are in fray for Malkajgiri segment alone, the least are in Bhansuvada segment. According to information 25 segments see the heavy fight by 15 candidates each, 78 segments see 16-31 candidates, more than 32 candidates fighting in 16 segments according to information.
The EC said that 2,80,64,684 electors (1,41,56,182 male, 1,39,05,811 female and 2691) will participate in the electioneering on Dec 7 from 7 am to 5 pm. Special arrangements have been made for 4,57,809 disabled persons like ramps, wheel chairs and others and appointed 29,541 volunteers to help them.
The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements for the polls in 119 Assembly segments across the state. In 13 problematic segments the polls will be completed by 4 pm. As part of the arrangements the EC set up as many as 32,815 polling stations in the segments while Hyderabad get major number of 3873 polling stations Wanaparty gets 280 polling stations. The EC appointed 1,60,509 poll staff, prepared 55329 ballot units, 42,751 VVPATS, 39,763 control units as also 649 assistant returning officers. In addition to 30000 security personnel the EC deployed 279 central companies of paramilitary forces in all segments to ensure fair and peaceful polls on December 7. (NSS)
