Hyderabad: Gold ornaments weighing around 25 tolas worth Rs 18 lakh went missing from a safe in Shankar Mutt at Nallakunta in the city.
According to the police, the incident happened a few weeks ago and the Mutt management informed the police two days ago after an internal inquiry failed to give any results. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and took up investigation.
“The management told us that gold ornaments were stolen from the locker of the institution. It is suspected to be a case of servant theft. Some persons associated with the Mutt have committed the offence,” said Nallakunta Inspector K Muralidhar.
It is learnt the police picked up two persons working in the institution for questioning. A helper is said to be involved in the case and efforts are on to recover the property from him. (NSS)
