26/11 attacks: Maharashtra pays homage to martyrs and victims

Mumbai : Maharashtra paused to remember and pay homage to the 166 martyrs and victims of the 26/11 terror strikes 14 years ago that shook the world, here on Saturday.

Mean while Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis , Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, and others offered floral tributes at the 26/11 Police Memorial in south Mumbai.Family members of the policemen, who lost their lives during the November 2008 attacks, also paid tributes to the martyrs.

In memory of martyrs Similar solemn commemorations were organised at the Hotel Taj Mahal & Palace, Hotel Trident-Oberoi, the Nariman House, the Cama Hospital , the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and other venues that were targetted.

it is to be remember that It was on November 26, 2008 late evening that 10 Pakistani terrorists sneaked into Mumbai through the Arabian Sea route to create mayhem at multiple locations in a small 5-sq.km radius area for the next 60 hours.

in terror attack a total of 166 people, including foreigners and security personnel, were killed and 9 of the heavily armed desperadoes were eliminated. Armed militants attacked a dozen locations in Mumbai — a hospital, railway station, a restaurant, a Jewish center and two luxury hotels, including Taj Mahal Palace.

The gun-toting Ajmal Amir Kasab was the sole terrorist nabbed alive, early on November 27 – hours after they launched the attacks – subjected to a trial and finally hanged on November 21, 2012. Top officials The then Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, Army Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Mumbai’s Additional Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte and Senior Police Inspector Vijay Salaskar were among those killed in the attack.Ajmal Kasab was the only terrorist who was captured alive and 4 years later He was hanged.Tributes have been pouring in from every corner and especially on Twitter, from politicians to the general public paying tribute to those who laid down their lives in the Mumbai terror attacks.
