Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao said that Telangana govt to purchase 500 electric vehicles to make Hyderabad a ‘pollution free city.
The vehicles would be introduced first in the limits of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Mr Rao said that the traditional diesel buses would be phased out over a period of time.
Mana Nagaram is an interactive program where the Minister interacts with the citizens to find a solution for their long pending problems.
He said, that the GHMC had already pressed such electric buses into service for its garbage collection.
The Minister sought people’s participation in transforming Hyderabad into a global city.
