A pleasant visit to a popular fast food joint turned into a nightmare for a Hyderabad kid after a large rat climbed up his shorts and bit him.
The incident, which was captured on the closed circuit camera of the fast food chain’s outlet in the Kompally area of Hyderabad has gone viral on social media.
In the video, an 8-year-old boy and his parents are having a meal when a large rat scampers out of the restaurant restroom and into the dining area. When it climbs up the boy’s shorts, his father rushes to his son’s aid, plucking the rat from his shorts and tossing it away.
The child was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was treated for two rat bites on his left leg. The boy’s father, who is an army officer, filed a complaint a day after the incident on March 9.

In 2022, a 42-year-old patient who was bitten by rodents while receiving treatment at the state-run Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) hospital in Telangana’s Warangal district died at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad.
Kadarla Srinivas, who was admitted to the MGM’s Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) on March 26 with serious lung, kidney, and liver ailments, was transferred to the NIMS Hyderabad as his condition worsened.
Srinivas, a goldsmith from Bhimaram village on the outskirts of Hanamkonda town, had been in the news when the local media reported on rodents nibbling his fingers and toes while he was unconscious on a hospital bed in the RICU ward at the MGM.
