A stunning Rs 5.5 crore from pending challans collected by Hyderabad Traffic Police on first day

On the first day of the one-time discount offer, the Police Department received a stunning Rs 5.5 crore from traffic challans.

The money was earned after clearing more than 5 lakh challans through the integrated e-challan system.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali asked citizens on Tuesday to take advantage of the reduction on pending challans and clear them by the end of the month.

Police authorities have already been given instructions to sensitise car owners to resolve the pending challans by intensifying checks on major routes.

Discount on TS Traffic Challan

To address this issue, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand launched TS Traffic Challan Discount, which offers discounts of up to 75%. One can also get up to a 75% discount on their outstanding challans. According to information provided by the Hyderabad traffic police, the TS Traffic Challan Discount programme was launched in order to recover outstanding challans from the previous eight years.

Traffic violators can learn more about this new option online or at Me-Seva Kendras. If they haven’t filled out the traffic challan yet.

According to Hyderabad Traffic Police Joint Commissioner AV Ranganath, a decision was made to provide citizens with a reduction on pending challans due to the current economic constraints caused by Covid-triggered lockdowns in the last couple of years.

A link will be provided on the Telangana e-challan website so that citizens can pay their challans online, at Mee Seva centres, banks, and traffic compounding booths.   “An SMS would be provided to the payer after the challans have been paid, he explained.

There is approximately 1.70 crore pending challans totalling Rs.500 crore. The cases were filed for a variety of infractions of the Motor Vehicle Act and other statutes.
