Adilabad Villagers Protest Against Congress, Send Selfies to Rahul Gandhi

Residents of Mukhra (K) village in Echoda mandal staged a unique protest on Wednesday against the Congress government in Telangana, accusing it of failing to deliver on key poll promises.

Villagers displayed boards and flex posters outside their homes with messages like “Congress government cheated the public by failing to keep six poll promises.” In a symbolic move, they clicked selfies with the protest boards and sent them directly to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The residents expressed anger over the government’s unfulfilled pre-election assurances, which included waiving crop loans up to ₹2 lakh, providing ₹2,500 monthly financial assistance to women under the Mahalaxmi scheme, distributing a tola of gold to women, and creating 2 lakh jobs.

“The Congress had promised these benefits would be implemented within 100 days of forming the government. But even after 18 months, not a single promise has been fulfilled,” the villagers said.

They also criticised the state government for discontinuing several welfare schemes initiated by the previous BRS government, such as KCR Kits, Nutrition Kits, Rythu Bima, and Rythu Bandhu.

“These schemes had benefited every household. The Congress has not only failed on its own promises but also scrapped ongoing welfare programs that helped farmers and women,” they added.

Regretting their electoral choice, the villagers said they had now realised their mistake in trusting Congress’s “unrealistic promises.” “Farmers are the worst affected by this betrayal,” they said, warning that rural anger against the government was growing.
