Ever since the US army withdrawal from the Afghanistan bases, Pentagon Press Secretary John F Kirby informed that the Afghan civilian and military leadership is currently on the hinges.
Secretary Of Defense Express Concerns For Other Nations
In a recent press conference, John F Kirby said that the Taliban forces have (reportedly) taken over at least five provincial capitals across the nation. And with this, other nations are also threatened. He added that the fighting in the country is “clearly not going in the right direction”.
He informed the press that Lloyd Austin, Secretary of Defense shared concerns that the other nations might have to suffer because of the situation in Afghanistan. But, he said that he still believes that the Afghan forces have the capability and the capacity to make a huge difference on the battlefield.

He said that they will continue to support Afghanistan with the authorities they have and whenever it is feasible. However, at the same time, they also understand that it might not always be feasible.
This support includes airstrikes and over-the-horizon counterterrorism support.
US To Switch To Bilateral Relationship With The Afghan Government Soon
Kirby said in the press conference that most of the US forces have already been withdrawn from Afghanistan. The Defence Department has been focusing on carrying out the order by President Joe Biden to complete the withdrawal by the end of the month.
He informed the media, that soon after, the US will switch to a bilateral relationship with the country. Meanwhile, the US authorities will continue to provide air support to the Afghan support until the end of the month.
Kirby added that whatever the outcome would be in the future, they are going to say as they look back that it was driven by the Afghan political and military leadership.
