AHS embarked on face lifting of Public Garden arena with fruit-flower saplings

With a motive to unravel a green revolution by catalyzing available resources and expertise in the field of garden farming, the Agri-Horticultural Society at Public Gardens Nampally is all set to revamp the entire infrastructure before launching new initiatives to promote gardening in the city.

Led by Chairman Anil Kumar Venkat Epur, the Agri-Horticultural Society has decided to revamp its arena with myriad number of flowers, fruits and ornamental saplings besides rolling out expert training programs for plant lovers utilizing the services of agri-scientists and the experts available within the society.

According to T.Narasimha Das, Vice-Chairman Agri-Horticultural Society (AHS), the society has decided to start a membership drive soon to increase the number of existing members. “Besides offering all the tools and materials for raising the gardens under one roof, the society is also conducting different training programs under the supervision of agri-scientists and experts. We have also decided to start a membership drive to increase the number of members from 400 to 1,000. The drive would allow an opportunity for people from different walks of life to become a member of the society,” he explained.

To begin with, the society has bedecked its arena with over ten thousand saplings of different species of fruits, flowers and ornamental variety. All the saplings were put on display at the society arena in the Public Gardens, Nampally with a price tag.

Fruit variety like Mango, Guava, Seethaphal, Coconut, Jamun, Amla, Jackfruit, Fig, Karonda, Pomegranate, Sapota, Mosambi, Apple grafts etc., has been put on display beside Flower saplings such as Spider Lily Broad Leaf, Spider Lily Narrow Leaf, Tecoma Gaudichaudi, Tecoma Orange, Heamilia Patterns, Lantana (Red/Yellow/While), Parijatnam, Gulphimia, Nandivardhnam (double/single), Mini Ixora (White/Pink) and Thai Ixora Yellow. All these saplings are up for the grab at reasonable prices. People can visit the society arena from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm on any of the weekdays except Monday,” informed A.Surender Reddy, Executive Councilor Agri-Horticultural Society.
