During a dharna staged by party workers at Ranga Reddy district collectorate to protest the demolition of a mosque at Shamshabad, AIMIM’s Karwan legislator Kausar Mohiuddin was taken into preventive custody by the Saifabad police.
The protest was held on Wednesday evening in the Ranga Reddy collectorate compound by the MLA and about 100 of his party’s workers. The protest lasted around an hour before he was brought to the Nampally police station.
Masjid-e-Khaja Mehmood mosque in Shamshabad’s Green Avenue colony was demolished by local officials early on Tuesday terming it illegal. Immediately after the demolition, protests erupted in Shamshabad and its surroundings, resulting in heavy police deployments.
During the early hours of the morning, authorities demolished the mosque at the Green Avenue colony.
The MBT party leader Amjedullah Khan visited the site after the news broke and raised objections to the demolition, which was conducted after a local resident reported the mosque was constructed allegedly without permission.

A protest was staged near Shamshabad Municipal Office around 10 am. Cyberabad police officials and police officers in riot gear were deployed near the office.
AIMIM leader Rahmath Ali Baig and Shastripuram corporator Mubeen Ahmed, who staged a dharna and attempted to barge into the office, were taken into preventive custody. As a precaution, police were deployed in Shamshabad and its surroundings.
Muslim leaders condemned the demolition and urged the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government to take action immediately.
He questioned the silence of Muslim organizations and politicians referring to KCR as a secular leader. According to him, the demolition was undertaken by the Municipal Department, headed by KCR’s son, K.T. Rama Rao.
The MBT leader Amjedullah Khan stated that the mosque was built three years ago and that five times namaz, including Friday prayers, are held regularly.
