Hyderabad: DEO & GHMC Commissioner M. Dana Kishore has said all arrangements were being made for the ensuing Moharrum and Ganesh Chaturthi festivals and Revision of Electoral Rolls.
Speaking to the media at the GHMC Head Office today, the DEO said he along with City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar have inspected the en route procession of Ganesh immersion around 18km stretch from Balapur to Tank Bund for Ganesh immersion en route and for the arrangements some Rs 15 crore have been spent. He also said 80 km length of road works was taken up for Moharrum procession also. Everyday nearly 600 potholes were being filled and so far some 10,000 pot holes have been taken up.
A meeting with Ganesh Utsav Committee was conducted. Mobile toilets were also being arranged as per the request made by the representatives of Ganesh Utsav Committee. Besides, expert swimmers were also being deployed to look after the safety measures with 10 special boats arranged for looking after the precautionary measures, special hooks have also being provided to lift the waste and so on after the immersion process. Clear instructions have been given to the ZCs/DCs to clear all the waste by evening of September 24.
Dana Kishore has said so far some 2,500 Ganesh idols were immersed and still some 12,000 idols are expected to come for immersion at Tank Bund, Hussainsagar lake. Some 70,000 lights were provided for illumination at all the 35 immersion points and 117 cranes, 150 mobile cranes were arranged. He said some 30 lakh water sachets were being provided on September 23 and 24 for the convenience of the citizens. Some 20 mini ponds were provided for immersion of idols. On the final day of immersion, 457 static and 155 mobile cranes were being provided.
With regard to Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, the DEO said by September 10, some 38.61 lakh voters enrolled at 3,700 polling stations under 65 police stations. Special awareness camps have been conducted by EROs on September 15 and 16 to enroll the young voters. Names of deceased voters and duplicate entries were being deleted on priority as per the EC guidelines. All basic facilities will be made at the polling stations for convenience of the voters. Those who completed 18 years’ age on January 1, 2018 their names will be included in the Electoral Rolls, the DEO added. (NSS)
