Ambulance Blaring Siren for Dog Stuns Hyderabad Traffic Police

In a bizarre incident, the West Zone traffic police were left stunned when they discovered a siren-blaring ambulance carrying not a critically ill patient, but a dog in a cage.

The incident occurred on Tuesday during a special drive conducted near Banjara Hills to check the unauthorised use of sirens. As the officials monitored traffic, they noticed an ambulance speeding through with its siren blaring. Suspecting an emergency, they stopped the vehicle to verify if it was carrying a patient. To their astonishment, they found a dog inside a cage instead.

The driver, identified as Laxminarayana, claimed that he was transporting the dog from Himayatnagar to a veterinary hospital in Madinaguda for sterilization. However, the traffic police were unimpressed with the justification and immediately seized the ambulance. A case was registered against the driver for frivolous use of a siren.

Officials reiterated that sirens are meant strictly for life-threatening emergencies and should be used only when transporting critically ill patients. In recent times, authorities have noted an increase in the misuse of sirens by private vehicles and even ambulances, where drivers activate the siren unnecessarily simply because it is installed.

The Hyderabad traffic police have vowed to continue cracking down on the unauthorised use of sirens, urging vehicle owners and drivers to adhere to the rules and ensure that emergency resources are not misused.
