AP DGP visits Livitiputtu, collects evidence

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh DGP RP Thakur today visited Livitiputtu village in Dumbriguda mandal in the Agency area in the district where Maoists killed MLA Kidari Sarveshwara Rao and former MLA Shiveri Soma.

The DGP conducted a review meeting on Maoists’ attack and aftermath developments with local police officials. Speaking to the media later, DGP said it was painful that the public representatives died in the Maoists’ attack. The police collected key evidence of the incident and special teams formed to interrogate the case. He said they never stated that there were no Maoists in the Agency area but said that the Maoists’ activities were reduced. He said that they will initiate corrective measures if there any mistakes from the police side.

The DGP said Maoists tried to attack several times after Ramguda encounter but the police repelled their efforts while staying alert. He said that the Maoists attacked public representatives while setting up a shelter at Andhra-Odisha border as it was very near to Livitiputtu village. He said that they will strengthen the intelligence while coordinating with Odisha police after speaking with Odisha DGP. (NSS)
