Vijayawada: The employees of state owned APSRTC have decided to go on indefinite strike from February 6, 2019. The decision was taken following rejection of their demands by the Management of the corporation. As many as 52,000 workers of the corporation would go on strike.
The joint action committee of the employees and workers union of the corporation have decided to go on strike. The discussions were held between the managing director of the corporation NV Surendra Babu and the union leaders on Tuesday but ended in a failure. The unions have been demanding 50 percent fitment from the management. Following this, the federation of the Unions met on Wednesday and took the decision to go on strike. The union leaders have said that the pay revision issue of the 52000 employees was pending since April 1, 2017. However, the state Government and the RTC management has been keeping the issue in pending. The unions took up the issue in their meeting with the management. However, the management of the corporation declined to implement the demand of the unions prompting them to go on the strike.
