An auto driver in Borabanda was lauded for his quick thinking and bravery on Tuesday night after he thwarted an attempted abduction of a young woman. The incident occurred when five youngsters tried to abduct a 17-year-old girl who was traveling in an auto rickshaw.
According to the police, the young woman, along with her colleague, had boarded a sharing auto rickshaw in Madhapur to travel to Borabanda. During the journey, two young men boarded the auto, with one of them sitting next to the girl. Shortly after, the man began misbehaving with her and even attacked her friend, prompting immediate action from the auto driver.
The driver, noticing the altercation, acted swiftly and pulled both suspects out of the vehicle. However, the situation escalated when the two men, along with three others who had been following the auto on bikes, tried to attack the driver. In a courageous move, the driver managed to escape with the girl and her friend, speeding away in the auto and reaching the girl’s home in Borabanda.

Despite the driver’s quick action, the group of five youngsters chased after the auto and attempted to kidnap the girl once again at her residence. Hearing the commotion, local residents quickly gathered, apprehending the suspects and preventing further harm.
The police, alerted to the scene, arrived promptly and took the five youngsters into custody. They are currently under investigation for their actions. The bravery of the auto driver in protecting his passengers has been widely praised by both the community and the authorities.
The police have assured that the investigation is ongoing, and necessary legal action will be taken against the accused. The swift intervention of the driver and the support from the local community helped ensure that the young woman was unharmed in a potentially dangerous situation.
