The top health advisory body of the United States has advised everyone against going to India, irrespective of whether or not they have got inoculated. The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued guidelines that mentioned getting vaccinated first if the purpose for travelling is unavoidable.
The health body has also ranked India in the highest Level 4 category of countries with most cases of the deadly virus. This level means that the country has a “very high level of covid-19″.
As such, the CDC said, “Because of the current situation in India, even fully vaccinated travellers may be at risk for getting and spreading Covid-19 variants and should avoid all travel to India.”

This advice formed a part of its “Key Information for Travelers to India” guidelines as India continues to lodge lakhs of cases every day in its second wave of coronavirus. The nation witnessed its highest-ever covid 19 cases breaking all previous records after registering more than 2.7 lakh infections.
To counter the situation, many states have imposed lockdowns and night curfews in their regions to curb the growing spread of the virus. Delhi, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Bihar are a few of those which have placed restrictions.
Apart from the blazing issue of the covid-19 spread, India is battling the treatment crisis and a dire shortage of the essential commodities at this time- oxygen, hospital beds, ventilators, and vital drugs. States are even complaining of a shortage of vaccines to inoculate the mass population.
As for the CDC’s guidelines, it advised to get both the doses of vaccine before entering India and follow all the precautionary measures,
“If you must travel to India, get fully vaccinated before travel. All travellers should wear a mask, stay 6 feet from others, avoid crowds, and wash their hands,” it said.
For the travellers going to India, even if they are fully vaccinated, the health body told to follow the 6 feet distance guideline from everyone, excluding the co-traveller apart from mandatory mask-wearing and washing/sanitization of hands.
